Further information.

Tate Modern is organising the 1st UK exhibition devoted to Theo Van Doesburg (1883-1931), a multi-disciplinary artist, who founded the De Stijl movement and played a pivotal role in exchanging avant-garde ideas between 1917 and 1931. Painter, architect and designer, he formed relationships with most influencial artists from the Bauhaus to the Concret art movement. Over 350 works by around 80 artists will be presented in the show alongside van Doesburg’s own, highlighting their exchanges, dialogue and in some cases collaboration, in the areas of film, typography, poetry, music, design, stained glass, painting, sculpture, and architecture.
