Olympic Metamorphoses is a new exhibition of wood engraved prints and collages by artist Anne Desmet, who lives close to the Olympic Stadium. It tracks the transformation of the London 2012 Olympic site in preparation for the games.

Since first viewing artists’ impressions and site plans after the games were awarded to London, Anne Desmet has been intrigued by the mass of construction taking place in her neighbourhood. Concentrating on the construction of the main Olympic Stadium and the Velodrome, her work explores these circular forms from above, creating abstract map-like images layering together the different phases of construction.

The exhibition will also include twelve brand-new, unseen works, including two engravings focusing on the Aquatics Centre and another engraving, Olympic Shadows, accepted by the Royal Academy of Arts as Desmet’s Diploma Work on her election to the RA in 2011.
