RIBA: London Pleasure Gardens Sat 7 Jul '12 - Sun 8 Jul '12
The Pleasure Gardens
RIBA London is partnering with London Pleasure Gardens and consulting engineers Price and Myers to create several structures inspired by the amazing regeneration of the Royal Docks in East London. Each structure ranging from Follies, Hanging Gardens, Pleasure Pool, Monopoly Houses to an Oyster Bar will be designed by a different architectural practice chosen by RIBA London. The 60,000sqm ‘London Pleasure Gardens’ will be a family-friendly festival of fun on a huge scale, right next to the Olympic venue at ExCel. London’s Pleasure Gardens will also feature bespoke benches made by architecture students, graduates and new practices participating in the ‘Pews & Perches’ project. This unique seating will showcase emerging talent whilst providing public furniture fit for a festival.
